ACCSC is recognized by the United States Department of Education as the designated institutional accrediting body for over 650 post-secondary, trade and technical schools that provide education to over 150,000 students in a wide variety of vocational programs each year.

ACCSC's scope of recognition with the U.S. Department of Education includes the accreditation of postsecondary, non-degree-granting institutions and degree-granting institutions, including those granting associate, baccalaureate and master's degrees, that are predominantly organized to educate students for occupational, trade and technical careers, and including institutions that offer programs via distance education.


Council on Occupational Education

The Council on Occupational Education (COE), originally founded in 1971 as a regional accrediting agency of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, is the successor to the Commission on Occupational Education Institutions (COEI). In 1995, the Council became a national accrediting agency. In 2021, the Council celebrated its 50th year of assuring quality and integrity in career and technical education. The Council's accreditation process is conducted on behalf of more than 360,000 students across the nation who pursue careers in a variety of technical fields.

Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board was created in 1965 to “provide leadership and coordination for the Texas higher education system to achieve excellence for the college education of Texas students.” The Board’s overall responsibilities include assessment of the state of higher education in Texas; development of recommendations to the Governor, Legislature, and institutions for its enhancement; and establishment of policies for the efficient and effective use of the state’s higher education resources.
 
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approves and regulates all degree granting institutions in the State of Texas and as such, authorizes the Associate of Applied Science Degree Program at Center for Advanced Legal Studies.

Texas Workforce Commission

Center for Advanced Legal Studies is approved and regulated by the Texas Workforce Commission, Career Schools and Colleges, Austin, Texas.

Texas Rehabilitation Commission

Center for Advanced Legal Studies is approved by the Texas Rehabilitation Commission to train individuals who qualify for TRC programs and services.

United States Department of Education

Programs offered at Center for Advanced Legal Studies are approved by the United States Department of Education and qualify for federal financial assistance programs such as Federal Stafford Loans, Federal PLUS Loans, Direct Student Loans, and Federal Pell Grants.

United States Department of Veterans Affairs

The Center is approved by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs to provide training to veterans under Chapters 30, 31, 33, 34, 35 and 1606 of the Montgomery GiBill®.
