The American Bar Association Standing Committee on Paralegals has a 25 year history. The mission of the Committee is to work within the ABA and with other groups to help make quality legal services more accessible and affordable, primarily by fostering the increasingly effective integration of legal assistants-or paralegals-into the legal services delivery team. The Committee advises and acts on behalf of the ABA on all matters relating to the present and future roles of traditional legal assistants who, as members of the legal services delivery team, work under the supervision of lawyers.

Center For Advanced Legal Studies'

council on occupational education
The Council on Occupational Education is a national accrediting agency that is committed to assuring quality and integrity in career and workforce development. The Council is a non-profit voluntary membership organization serving postsecondary education and training institutions, centers, and similar entities interested in the improvement of the workforce in the United States of America. The Council is the successor to the Commission on Occupational Education Institutions, founded in 1971 as a regional accrediting agency of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The Council’s current membership is approximately 400 candidate and accredited institutions.

Center For Advanced Legal Studies
is an accredited paralegal school, accredited by the Council on Occupational Education.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board was created in 1965 to “provide leadership and coordination for the Texas higher education system to achieve excellence for the college education of Texas students.” The Board’s overall responsibilities include assessment of the state of higher education in Texas; development of recommendations to the Governor, Legislature, and institutions for its enhancement; and establishment of policies for the efficient and effective use of the state’s higher education resources.
 
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approves and regulates all degree granting institutions in the State of Texas and as such, authorizes the Associate of Applied Science Degree Program at Center For Advanced Legal Studies.

Center For Advanced Legal Studies is approved by the Texas Rehabilitation Commission to train individuals who qualify for TRC programs and services.
 
Programs offered at Center For Advanced Legal Studies are approved by the United States Department of Education and qualify for federal financial assistance programs such as Federal Stafford Loans, Federal PLUS Loans, Direct Student Loans, and Federal Pell Grants.

The Center is approved by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs to provide training to veterans under Chapters 30, 31, 34, 35 and 1606 of the Montgomery GI Bill.
